Mellow Soul Toolkit
The Challenge
To create a low-tech toolkit that uses the Kaizen approach, which encourages and helps people to take small simple steps (1% everyday) over 100 days to make positive and impactful life changes that become habits.
Defining the user
I created a persona, in which I choose certain attribute, habits and lifestyle choices in order to analyse and identify how to improve her wellbeing.
Three Routes
My persona suffers from insomnia and has a risk of heart disease. Initial research indicated that it's caused by work related stress and anxiety. Consistency in routine can help reduce this, allowing themselves time to wind down after a long day and letting go of any stresses the day held, leading to better quality of sleep. I created three ideas that give different ways to doing this.
The Process
I decided I wanted to develop route 2 as it used the keep learning and take notice ways to wellbeing, allowing her to view her life as more than just a constant battle and make it more manageable and maintainable. Having it be adaptable, depending on how she’s feeling on that day and what she wants to target will mean she can feel in control. The booklet gives her tips to learn about how she can try fix her sleep and lets her learn a new way to encourage a positive mindset around sleep through poems and affirmations. By getting rid of all her negative thoughts and finding something that she can do for herself she is taking notice. Sight, scent and sound are ways in which aid sleep. I refined the designs, printed them and put together the toolkit.
